Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 17, 2026
Overview
HalfDay connects to your Gmail to read, classify, and draft email responses on your behalf. We take data access seriously. We only use your data to provide the service — nothing else.
This Privacy Policy explains what data HalfDay ("we", "us", or "our") collects when you use our service at halfday.polsia.app, how we use it, and your rights around it.
What Data We Collect
When you connect your Gmail account via Google OAuth, HalfDay is granted access to your email. We use this access to:
- Read emails in your inbox to understand their content and context
- Classify emails by type (urgent, routine, follow-up needed, etc.)
- Draft suggested or automated responses in your voice
- Generate your daily morning briefings summarizing overnight activity
- Identify threads that need follow-up and send reminders
We also collect standard account information: your name, email address, and Google profile data provided during OAuth sign-in.
We do not sell your email data, share it with third parties for advertising, or use it to train AI models beyond what's required to operate HalfDay for you.
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to operate and improve HalfDay for you:
- Email triage: Classifying your inbox so the right emails get your attention
- Auto-drafting: Generating reply drafts or sending automated responses on your behalf
- Daily briefings: Summarizing what happened overnight so you start each day informed
- Follow-up tracking: Monitoring stalled threads and sending contextual nudges
We use the Anthropic Claude API to power AI features. Email content processed by Claude is subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy. We use Claude's API under a commercial agreement that prohibits using your data to train their models.
Data Storage and Security
HalfDay stores the minimum data necessary to operate:
- Your Gmail OAuth tokens are stored encrypted using AES-256-GCM
- Email content processed for triage and briefings is not permanently stored beyond what's needed for your active session
- Daily briefings and email summaries are stored in your account so you can review them later
- All data is stored on infrastructure hosted in the United States
We use standard industry practices to protect your data: encrypted storage, secure HTTPS transport, and access controls. No security system is 100% foolproof, but we take reasonable precautions to protect what you've entrusted to us.
Google API Scopes
HalfDay requests the following Google OAuth scopes:
- gmail.readonly — to read your emails for triage and briefings
- gmail.compose — to draft and send responses on your behalf
- gmail.modify — to label or archive emails as part of inbox management
We only request scopes we actively use. HalfDay's use of Google API data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your Rights
You are in control of your data at all times:
- Disconnect Gmail anytime: Remove HalfDay's access from your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Once removed, HalfDay immediately stops accessing your inbox.
- Request data deletion: Email us at benlaux5@gmail.com to request deletion of your account and all associated data. We'll process it within 30 days.
- Access your data: You can request a copy of data we hold about you at any time.
- Opt out: If you stop using HalfDay and revoke OAuth access, we retain no ongoing ability to access your Gmail.
Third-Party Services
HalfDay uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Google (Gmail API) — for email access and management
- Anthropic Claude API — for AI-powered email classification and drafting
- Render — for hosting the application server and database
- Neon — for PostgreSQL database hosting
Each of these services has their own privacy policy governing their data handling practices.
Children's Privacy
HalfDay is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we'll notify you via email. Continued use of HalfDay after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
